Annual Scientific Meeting 2008

WELCOME |
| |
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 2008 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Society for Academic Primary Care. This meeting is hosted by the department of general practice at the National University of Ireland, Galway on behalf of the United Kingdom Association of University Departments of General Practice in Ireland for the Society of Academic Primary Care. This meeting is recognised as one of the best primary care research and education meetings in the world and we are (quietly !) confident that the Galway meeting will carry on this fine tradition.
As ever, we look forward to showcasing current, especially innovative, educational and research activities from the British Isles and around the world through the usual formats of plenaries, parallel papers, posters and workshops. This year we intend to showcase our posters in a new digital format which should emphasise audience participation and interaction.
Beyond the academic programme, the varied social programme is intended to provide multiple opportunities to meet, greet and, the all important, network. There is also a mixed four nations soccer tournament. Outside the meeting confines lies the city of Galway nestled on the west coast of Ireland and surrounded by the three jewels of the Aran Islands, Burren and Connemara. We very much encourage you to visit Galway and at least one of these jewels. To introduce you to Galway, and its strong literary and historical heritage, included in the academic programme is a session on Galway Gems with local university experts speaking on their chosen areas of interest.
Please note that all accommodation bookings are reserved until 9th May. As Galway is a very busy tourist city, it may be difficult to secure accommodation after this date. A wide range of accommodation has been reserved; please book early to ensure your choice.
In conclusion, all of us are really looking forward to hosting the 2008 SAPC ASM. Go on, book now and look forward with us!
