BURSARIES
SAPC is pleased to be able to fund 30 bursaries of £100 for non-medical members to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) 8-10 July 2009.
You may apply if you fulfil all of the following criteria:
• You are a non-medical member of SAPC
• You have not attended an ASM before
• You are below senior lecturer level
• You are not registering at the student rate
How to apply
You may apply for a bursary to office@sapc.ac.uk. Requests will be handled on a first come first served basis of receipt. In the event of bursaries being oversubscribed we may restrict the awards to one bursary per department or organisational unit.
TRAVEL AWARD
The SAPC/NAPCRG travel award of £500 for one presenter at SAPC’s ASM to attend NAPCRG, USA 2009
One travel award of £500, free registration and an oral presentation slot is available to the winner of this award to attend the NAPCRG (North American Primary Care Group) annual meeting in October 2009.
Your application will be considered if:
• Your abstract is accepted for oral presentation (including panels) at the SAPC ASM 2009 8-10 July, St Andrews
• You are at lecturer to senior lecturer level (not professor)
• You submit a transcript of your presentation (powerpoint presentation and notes accepted) by mid June 09 (deadline to be confirmed)
Applicants will be asked to submit a full transcript of the paper they will present at the SAPC ASM by mid June for the consideration of the judges. Presentations will be judged at the SAPC ASM 2009. The winning presentation will be given a slot in the NAPCRG annual meeting programme.

PRIZES
Two prizes for best poster presentation will be awarded at the ASM – book tokens to the value of £75.
Prize for best presentation by a young or early career researcher
There will be a prize for the best early-career researcher presentation. To qualify, the main author and presenter should have no more than three years (whole time equivalent) research experience since completion of their PhD. Shortlisting for the prize will be based on the quality of submitted abstracts, and shortlisted presentations will be judged by a panel of senior academics.
PRIZE PRESENTATIONS AT ASM 09
Two best submissions from the presentation abstracts will be presented in the plenary session on Friday morning.
RCGP/SAPC elective prize: Rachel Clarke, University of Oxford, Project: An exploration, both quantitative and qualitative, of delays in diagnosing childhood cancer in primary care
Winner of the 2008 Merck Sharp and Dohme Ltd RCGP Research Paper of the Year (to be announced)
Winner of the SAPC / NAPCRG travel award – the winning presentation at NAPCRG (North American Primary Care Group) meeting in October 2008 (to be announced).
