Dermatology
CONTACT: Dr Matthew Ridd (Chair of the Dermatology SIG)
AIMS OF THE GROUP
To promote research into the diagnosis and management of the skin problems commonly seen in primary care
OBJECTIVES
-
To identify researchers with past, current or future interest in conducting primary care based dermatology research.
-
To provide networking opportunities for primary care based researchers, and for/with researchers based in specialist settings, with an interest in improving the primary care dermatology evidence base.
-
To provide an informal forum for the generation of ideas and discussion of research proposals – either through face-to-face meetings (such as “fringe” events at the Annual Scientific Meeting) or on-line discussion groups through a managed membership list.
-
To encourage collaboration and successful application by members across different departments for funding of primary care based dermatology research.
GROUP ACTIVITIES
An inaugural meeting will be held at the Bristol SAPC ASM in July 2011
Networking and discussion will continue online, supporting collaborative working and development of new joint research proposals. Future plans include further fringe meetings at regional and national SAPC meetings and (if an option) an application to run a primary care dermatology research “panel” at next year's conference
